Interview: Rise And Fall

01.)In which way do you write your songs? Does anyone of you have kind of an initial idea, or do you just play on and on until something sounds interesting to you, or another way?

It depends really. Sometimes Cedric or Vince will come to practice with a couple of riffs or the framework for a song and then we continue to work on finishing the song together. Sometimes, we’ll just be jamming with an idea
in mind of where we want to go. That doesn’t always work out but it is an interesting process.

02.)Except playing music, what do you do in your free time?

I try to read a lot. I love eating. I listen to a lot of music. Hang out with my friends. I’m in an indoor football team too.

03.)Is RISE AND FALL job, vocation or hobby?

Right now, it’s our life.

On the road:

04.)Vegan, straight edge, or rather sex drugs and rock´n´roll? What does a perfect catering look like?

I’m straight edge. But I like parties. Sometimes. Perfect catering for me? Usually just the idea of people going through the trouble to cook for us is already something we deeply appreciate it and a lot of the times the food is
good too, whether it is vegetarian, vegan or meat. if I had to throw something out there, I love getting baked patatoes at shows, or mashed patatoes. Chicken rules too. We played Mannheim recently and they even got us ice cream. It was a dream come true.

05.) If you could choose, who would be your favourite support band on a headlining tour / who would be your favourite headliner you would support?

There’s a lot of bands I would like to tour with still. Harm’s Way from Chicago for example. Or Dirty Money from London. Bitter End. Trash Talk. Soul Control. As for supporting other bands, I think we have already been
lucky enough to tour with Converge a bunch of times, I really couldn’t ask for anything better than that.

06.)What was your greatest event live or on tour by now?

I’ll go with something recent. Really recent. Coming back to Ghent after 2 months of touring pretty much non-stop, to play a release there, stressing out all day and getting real anxious to play and than being able to play a good show to a great crowd. That rules.

Curious:

07.)Imagine you are stranded on a secluded island and your I-Pod has a defect. It only will play one song (which is none of your own ones). Which one?

„Sistinas“ by Danzig.

08.)If you could start again at the beginning of your band, would you do anything different than you did?

I’d try to persuade F-Double (who played guitar on the demo) to tour with us, even if it was only just once. We never got the chance.

09.)How much does the music you are doing mean to you? Are there limits in what you would invest (time / emotions / finances)?

It obviously means a great deal to us. This is what we do and we love doing it. We’ve been fortunate enough to get to the point where we don’t have to worry as much financially. As long as enjoy doing this, we’ll keep doing it.
As long as we feel like we have something to offer, we’ll continue riffing.

The very last question:

10.)If there was a question you always wanted to be asked, but never were asked yet, what would it be and what would be your answer?

What’s your Top 3 Favourite Hip-Hop Records ever?

1. Nas „Illmatic“
2. Notorious B.I.G. „Ready To Die“
3. Wu-Tang Clang „36 Chambers“
